The Duttons faced a new set of challenges in the early 20th century, including Western expansion, Prohibition, and the rise of the Great Depression. America’s Great Depression began in 1929 and began in Montana. The Great Depression began in Montana in 1918, about 10 years before the rest of the nation. While the rest of America was prospering, Montana was struggling. Between drought and low demand for agricultural products, the “Great War” (World War I, 1914-1918), many farmers suffered greatly. As a result, Montana farmers would default on wartime loans, leading to widespread bank failures across the state. Half of Montana’s farmers lost their land between 1921 and 1925. By 1925, 70,000 of Montana’s 82,000 homes were gone. Additionally, 200 banks in Montana failed. Not only has the drought damaged the crops, but the locust infestation has made the livestock susceptible to the infestation. Χάρισον Τορντ (2023). Dame Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford. Sounds like a winning recipe. And that’s it. The Duttons are back in Montana and struggling to maintain their farming life. The patriarch, Jacob Dutton (Harrison Ford), struggles just as John Dutton (Costner) did in Yellowstone. Very funny. The story has two other very interesting story arcs. One is Spencer Dutton. A disillusioned veteran of World War I. Now a hunter in Africa. Spencer meets an English girl he likes. Suddenly, the two find out they have to go to Montana from Mogadishu, Somalia. It should be easy… the second story arc is about a school where Native American girls are abused by Catholic priests and nuns. That part was very unpleasant to watch. There was a bit of revenge going on that was quite watchable… I usually rate TV shows after one season. Not this time. I didn’t like the last part. Explanation of the cause of the deterioration.
